Bishop John E. Guns
John E. Guns is the Senior Pastor of St. Paul Church of Jacksonville, Inc. where he has totally revived what was once a rigid, placid, traditional southern Baptist church into an oasis of FAITH, FELLOWSHIP and FUN. Through extremely innovative thinking and an approachable spirit, Dr. Guns has epitomized koinonia before this great congregation and has ultimately built an amazing community of worshipers. His love for worship is evident whenever the St. Paul family gathers!
He was formally educated in the public and private school system of Hampton Roads, VA. He earned his Bachelor’s of Art degree in Sociology from Norfolk State University and his Masters of Divinity and Doctoral of Ministry Degrees from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology, Virginia Union University.
In November of 2014, Dr. Guns was asked by His Grace, Bishop Neil C. Ellis, to serve as the leader of Christian Education of Global United Fellowship. As a result of this appointment, he was consecrated to the office of Bishop on July 18, 2014.

Bishop Guns is the Founder of Operation Save Our Sons, a national movement designed to equip At-Risk boys while strengthen fathers. The goal is to equip them to make positive decisions regarding the law & authority. Under the umbrella of OSOS, Bishop Guns has formed two mentoring groups, The Difference Makers for High School boys and Young Guns for Middle School and Elementary School boys. At the present the programs are in 7 schools in Duval County. As well one other groundbreaking program, Difference Makers, which was organized by Bishop Guns. The crown jewel of OSOS is the annual week of activities called Save Our Sons Week, a series of event designed to draw positive attention to At-Risk Males.
Bishop Guns is a dynamic community leader who has been instrumental in leading community change. Under his leadership, the Saint Paul Church has become a hub of social ministry, feeding over 5,000 families a year and clothing countless others each year.
He has served on several boards locally and because of his work has garnered various community awards and recognition, inclusive of the Citizen of the Year Award given by the Duval County Sheriff Department. Bishop Guns is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Inc.
Of all his accomplishments, his most important is his family. Bishop Guns is the proud husband and life partner of Pastor Sonjanique L. Guns and loving father of three daughters, Alexis (Claude), Daijah, and Tayler. His grandsons, Zion John-Eric and Claude Douglas III, are his absolute joy.
