THE 3 P’S FOR MANAGING CRISIS
I write this I’m sitting outside listening to nature. The soothing sounds of crickets and
the subtle breeze from the night air is a reminder that despite this season of immense
uncertainty there are some things we can depend on. Despite the daily updates of
cases and deaths confirmed, we can find comfort in the consistency of our Creator,
God. In God’s consistency, we can reassure ourselves that through all of this we will
arise from the ashes better not broken and bitter. If that is the declaration of our soul,
how can we manage the between time? Yes, HOW?
Let me offer what I call the 3 P’s.
1. PRAY. Prayer is so essential in this time because it allows us to remain connected to
the source of our peace. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul writes, 6. Don’t worry about anything,
but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful
heart. 7. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts
and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. (GNV).
This incredible passage challenges us to open our hearts to God through Jesus Christ
by sharing honestly where we are. In doing this we affirming that the source of our
equanimity of mind comes from Him. Bob Weinstein once wrote “we’re always talking
about how important communication is for relationships. this applies to your relationship
with the Creator. If you are not communicating w/ him on a regular basis, the
relationship will suffer.” Let’s use this time to deepen your prayer life. You will be
amazed at the sense of peace that comes.
2. PAUSE. Pausing simply means Stop and reflect. Take time to hear your thoughts and
when needed to journal them. Take time to sit somewhere quiet with no electronic
devices to interfere. Take time to listen to calming music that encourages you to shut it
down. I know if you are like me, you are TECHNOLOGY OUT. I’m pretty sure your
home has become the office. So take time and shut it off. If you are retired devote time
to reflecting on what you can offer to the younger generation. If you are still working,
find time to think of what life should look like and seek wisdom to create it. Take time
and SIMPLY BE. This will allow for inner cleansing and personal reconstruction. Pause
and hear again nature communicate. I promise you it has something to say.
3. Finally, PLAN. Use this time to evaluate who you are and where you are. You may
discover and discern that what you were doing before this stay at home order is no
longer a passion. You may see that you are on the right path but need to make some
adjustments. You may find in your time of solitude coupled with healthy conversations
with family and close friends that there is more. Planning involves telling the truth. It
involves disconnecting from the noise created by the illusion of success. Jeremiah 29:11
says, 11. I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not
disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. (GNV). In essence, seek God’s
plan for you and release yourself to tomorrow today.
My friends as we go through tough times, know that God has you and with great
confidence declare, AND THIS TOO SHALL PASS. The good news is GOD GOT US
